Common questions

Medicare chiropractic care — what to know

Does Medicare cover chiropractic care?

Yes, Medicare Part B covers chiropractic treatment for spinal subluxation (misalignment). Medicare covers manual manipulation of the spine when performed by a chiropractor. You pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after meeting your Part B deductible.

What is NOT covered by Medicare?

Medicare does not cover massage therapy, physical therapy performed by the chiropractor, maintenance or wellness care, or any non-spinal services. X-rays are covered only when medically necessary for diagnosis. These services are available but would be out-of-pocket or covered by supplemental insurance.

Do you accept Medicare Advantage plans?

Coverage varies by Medicare Advantage plan. We accept many Medicare Advantage plans, but benefits differ. Call our office with your plan information and we can verify your specific coverage before your appointment.

How do I know if I need chiropractic care?

If you have back pain, neck pain, or spinal issues that affect your daily life, chiropractic care may help. We provide a thorough evaluation to determine if your condition is appropriate for chiropractic treatment and if it meets Medicare's coverage criteria.
